The permanent five of the UN Security Council discussed nuclear risks

Russia, China, the United States, Great Britain and France, which are permanent members of the UN Security Council, took part in consultations on strategic stability and nuclear security. As reported on Friday, June 23, in the press service of the US State Department, a meeting at the level of experts from the ministries of defense and foreign affairs took place in Cairo.
Participants in the consultations discussed strategic risk reduction as well as nuclear doctrines and policies.
The State Department said that Washington welcomes “a professional approach and the inclusion of officials from the military departments in thematic discussions.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that Russia will continue to develop the nuclear triad, as it is a guarantee of global stability. Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that the Russian nuclear doctrine proceeds from from the defensive and deterrent nature of the nuclear arsenal.
Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov pointed out that the White House regularly and unjustifiably states that only Washington implements arms control agreements, and the other parties to the agreements, including Moscow, are alleged to be violators obligations assumed.
