Zakharova: using the Holocaust theme discredits it for the general public
The Holocaust loses its significance in the eyes of hundreds of millions of citizens when it is used to solve political problems. This statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Speaking on Sputnik radio, the diplomat pointed out that Israeli officials at the UN often make references to the topic of the Holocaust in the context of the Palestinian confrontation.
“The worst thing, in my opinion, is that in this way the topic of the Holocaust… for so many people… ceases to be sacred, it ceases to be sacred… It becomes part of… a political situation,” – Zakharova said.
Before this, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Israeli side should not create a sense of permissiveness because of the Holocaust.
