Zakharova commented on the article by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine on Central Asia

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the article by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Yermak, posted on the Uzbek and Azerbaijani news portals, disinformation, and Russia’s relations with the countries of Central Asia are exemplary. “The sincere peacekeeping efforts of Russia, both independent and in collective formats, in Central Asia and the Transcaucasus, including in recent years, are well known. It should also be emphasized the generally recognized role of the guarantor of security, which is performed by our military installations abroad on the territory of friendly states, ”says a representative of the Foreign Ministry.

According to Zakharova, Yermak deliberately hushed up Russia’s partnership with the countries of Central Asia and its “importance for the stable and sustainable development of the region.” She noted that Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union as a whole account for up to 40% of the trade turnover of the countries of this region. According to her, about 185,000 students from Central Asia study in Russia, 65,000 of whom receive education at the expense of the Russian budget.

Commenting on the publication of Yermak’s article on Uzbek and Azerbaijani resources, she noted that in Russia they respect the freedom of the press, but “the information field in countries friendly to us cannot be a place for broadcasting deliberately false and provocative fabrications.”

We are talking about the article by Yermak, published at the end of April on the Azerbaijani portal haqqin.az. In it, he says that there is much in common between Ukraine and Central Asia, and “Moscow is interfering in the integration processes within the region.”
