Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the creation of a civilian EU mission to work in Armenia is “an attempt to squeeze Russia” out of the region. This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Everything is being done to squeeze Russia out of the region and weaken its historical role as the main guarantor of security,” Zakharova said.
According to her, negative assessments of this mission by Azerbaijan are “publicly ignored”.
Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the creation of an EU civilian mission to work in Armenia of 100 people. It is planned that representatives of the mission will also be involved in the evaluation of the investment plan.
