EU intends to impose sanctions against Ingosstrakh, RNPK and 26 other legal entities

The draft of the tenth package of EU sanctions against Russia, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, will include 28 organizations, writes EUobserver portal.

We are talking about the so-called. a blacklist of legal entities that face an asset freeze in the EU and a ban on doing business. It will probably include the National Welfare Fund (NWF) of Russia, Alfa Bank, Rosbank And Tinkoff bankthe Patriot media group and the Rossiya Segodnya media holding, as well as the insurance companies Ingosstrakh and the Russian National Reinsurance Company (RNRC).

Restrictions also threaten 62 Russian individuals. Among them, the portal notes, in particular, the Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova. In addition to her, the portal also names the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Protection of Bashkiria, Lenara Ivanova, and the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region, Vyacheslav Duhin. They face visa bans and asset freezes.

The portal notes that the content of the package may still change, for example, some countries insist on imposing sanctions against Rosatom, but this is opposed by Hungary, on whose territory the Russian company is building two power units.

On February 2, the European Parliament adopted a resolution in which it called on the EU countries “as soon as possible” to adopt the tenth package of sanctions against Russia. In addition, the European Parliament proposed imposing sanctions against Lukoil and Rosatom, as well as abandoning not only Russian oil and gas, but also uranium.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen informedthat the tenth package of sanctions against Russia being developed by the EU contains trade restrictions on supplies of 11 billion euros. According to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the tenth package of sanctions will come into force on February 24, the anniversary of the start of the special operation in Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the EU has already adopted nine packages of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The restrictions affected many sectors of the economy, including energy, the high-tech sector, aviation, banking and mining, the automotive industry, etc. On December 16, 2022, the EU adopted the ninth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The restrictions affected Russian banks, the export of dual-use goods and technologies, and a ban was introduced on investments in the energy and mining sectors of Russia.
