Zakharova called on the United States to answer the question of involvement in the accidents at Nord Stream

US President Joe Biden is obliged to answer whether Washington is involved in the accidents on the two Nord Stream gas pipelines, stated Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Zakharova recalled Biden’s promise at the beginning of February 2022 to “end” Nord Stream 2 if Russian troops cross the border of Ukraine.

“US President Joe Biden is obliged to answer the question whether the United States of America realized its threat on September 25 and 26, 2022, when an emergency occurred on the three lines of the SP-1 and SP-2, which is tentatively qualified as a pipeline rupture, speculating about undermining them,” she wrote in her Telegram channel.

European countries should know the truth about what happened, Zakharova added.

On the night of Monday, September 26, pressure dropped in the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The decrease was recorded in pipe “A” in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Denmark, southeast of the island of Bornholm. On the same day, pressure dropped on both lines of Nord Stream.

Later it was reported that two explosions were recorded along the gas pipeline routes. The Swedish police launched a preliminary investigation into a possible sabotage. It was noted that the explosions occurred in the same area as the gas leak, which was previously reported by the Danish Maritime Authority.

Later, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, announced the premeditation of the incidents on Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Nord Stream AG (the operator of the Nord Stream gas pipeline) noted that it is not yet possible to estimate the time frame for restoring the performance of both gas pipelines.
