Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that at least 372 thousand people voted outside of Russia in the presidential elections. She clarified that this is not final data, since the last polling stations abroad closed only at 5:00 Moscow time.
“Today, at 8:30 am Moscow time, according to preliminary data, 372 thousand 779 people took part in the elections, but this is not final data,” said a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Channel One (quoted from “RIA News”).
Maria Zakharova called the turnout for elections in other countries unprecedented. She added that about 90% of the ballots were processed at foreign polling stations.
The day before, large queues lined up at voting stations in Berlin, Paris, Yerevan, Astana, Bangkok, Sydney and other major cities around the world. A total of 230 polling stations operated in 111 countries.
