France, by untimely issuing visas, disrupted the participation of Russian representatives in the meetings of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference. Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, spoke about this on Tuesday, November 7.
The official accused Paris of flagrantly failing to comply with its duties regarding the issuance of visas to representatives of the Russian Federation traveling to this country to participate in the work of UNESCO’s governing bodies.
Zakharova pointed out that France has committed itself to allowing representatives of UNESCO member states to enter the country without delay or charge for a visa. Despite this, Paris allowed itself “arbitrariness without regard to existing international legal norms.”
Earlier, Zakharova noted that the United States has done everything in recent years to destroy Russia’s consular presence in its country. At the same time, the Russian side, unlike the American side, issues visas clearly, understandably and transparently.
On the other hand, the Russian Federation, after a one-year pause received an invitation to the annual meeting of OSCE foreign ministers, which will take place on November 30 and December 1 in Skopje in North Macedonia.
