“Our duty and responsibility to protect the external borders of NATO and the EU remains unchanged. Yesterday it was established that a Russian plane violated Latvian airspace. Today, the head of the Russian embassy was summoned to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was given a note of protest,” the statement says.
The Leta agency, citing the Latvian Ministry of Defense, clarifies that on November 6 the violation was detected by an air force radar. After crossing the border, the aircraft returned to Russian territory.
November 3 Belarus reported about cases of violation of airspace by Poland. A Polish light aircraft, while on patrol on November 2, repeatedly crossed the state border of the republic to a depth of 200 m. Since the beginning of September, Poland has committed five such incidents.
