Two young female skiers from Yaroslavl were injured during a massive fall at the youth sports competition in Sochi. Fortunately, not too serious.

From the Yaroslavl region, 16-year-old Arina Loginova and Marya Shemyakina took part in the youth Spartakiad in Sochi, in particular, in the mass start of cross-country skiing. The girls suffered less than others who were caught up in the “mixture” of participants. They escaped with bruises.

Let us remind you that during the mass start of young skiers, a very dense fog fell on the mountain track. In conditions of very poor visibility and at high speed, several athletes tripped and fell. The girls following them began to fly into each other. In this heap, 15 people were injured. There were fractures, including serious ones. 9 young skiers had to be hospitalized.

The Yaroslavl girls walked a little later than the group of leaders. Given the elevation changes, they had to deliberately fall onto the track in order to stop on the descent. Other skiers ran into the young athletes from behind.

Yaroslavl athletes do not require hospitalization. But they will need treatment. Now the parents are with the girls.
