Young sambists of Verkhnyaya Pyshma met with cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev

On February 2, in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, at the Sambo Palace, young sambists met with Hero of Russia, deputy of the Moscow City Duma, coordinator of the federal project of the United Russia party “For Sambo” in Moscow, cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev.

First, the Hero of Russia was shown the infrastructure of the sports center and the training process. Further, Oleg Artemyev talked to young sambists.

According to him, he was engaged in sambo and judo in his childhood and youth. Now he is a master of sports in sambo. Oleg Artemyev was the commander of the Soyuz MS-21 manned spacecraft. Young athletes asked him about space, playing sports, participating in competitions.

“I did a lot of sambo and judo wrestling, participated in competitions, and I can say that these are the best sports that teach resilience, respect for an opponent, and much more,” said Oleg Artemiev. “Even on the ISS, I took with me a SAMBO uniform – jackets, wrestling shoes and other attributes.”

According to Oleg Artemyev, the Sambo Palace in Verkhnyaya Pyshma is the best of such sports facilities that he has seen. He was happy for the children who study here.

Shukhrat Makhmudov, President of the Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region, said that the region in Russia is the first in the development of Sambo among children. Thanks to the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, which has been supporting the development of sports for 23 years, the slogan “All the best for children” has been fully implemented in Verkhnyaya Pyshma.

“Now we are in the Palace of Sambo and Martial Arts, the first such palace in Russia and in the world,” said Shukhrat Makhmudov.

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region, coordinator of the federal project of the United Russia party “Za Sambo” in the region Alexei Svalov noted that the main direction of this project is the development of sambo among schoolchildren and students, attracting children and adults to pass the TRP standards.

“I am sure that together we will be able to promote the national sport to the highest level,” said Alexei Svalov. “It is very important to convey to children: SAMBO is aimed at protecting oneself, at developing physical health, the ability to work in a team, at patriotism and love for the Motherland.”

Alexey Svalov thanked the parents of the children for finding the opportunity and time to take the children to the gyms of Verkhnyaya Pyshma and for participating in the life of the Sambo Federation.

In Verkhnyaya Pyshma, a martial arts school opened at the Sambo Palace in September 2022. The groups are fully staffed, the coaching and teaching staff consists of international-class specialists. And the equipment of the Sambo Palace makes it possible to hold competitions of the highest level on its site.
