Young Kostroma taekwondo fighter became the best “shadow fighter”

The Regional Committee for Physical Education and Sports reports that at the All-Russian Taekwondo Poomsae competitions held in Suzdal, Vladimir Region, Kostroma resident Ilya Makarenkov won a gold medal in the Taekwondo Poomsae discipline – a basic technique that includes 16 basic strikes and protective blocks against them.
Performing these strikes and setting up a block occurs during a single performance – a fight with an imaginary enemy and is therefore called “shadow boxing”. In this discipline, Ilya Makarenkov turned out to be the best among the young taekwondo athletes who came to Suzdal from seven regions of the Central Federal District – and climbed to the first step of the podium.
