You load sixteen tons each – and this is good!

For 6 years of work of the project “good caps” of the charity fund “Volunteers to help orphans” throughout Russia, almost 800 tons of this raw material were collected in the amount of 17.3 million rubles. With this money, 85 items were bought for 67 children from different regions of the Russian Federation.

The list is impressive! The first child to receive help from the project was Andryusha from Podolsk with a spinal hernia. On June 5, 2016, a wheelchair was bought for him with the collected caps. For Kirill from Yaroslavl, they bought an Adele suit. The boy suffers from cerebral palsy, and such a suit helps to restore motor functions. Bought also verticalizers. We are currently raising funds for a wheelchair for Lena from Taganrog.

Collecting “good caps” is a long process. I’ll tell you from my own experience: a family of four fills one and a half to two five-liter cans in six months. This is despite the fact that the diet constantly contains yoghurts and juices – the main “suppliers” of caps. When there are a lot of caps, we buy a five-liter jar of drinking water (you need to choose a brand with a wider neck), we drink water, put the caps in the jar and take it to school or kindergarten.

Then all this stuff is sent to Tver for processing. “Good caps” flock there from all over the country.

Moscow operators also joined the project: for example, Charter LLC and MSK-NT. The anniversary of cooperation with the project is celebrated by the EcoLine group: it joined on February 14, and in four years it has collected and shipped 110 tons of plastic caps to Tver. The last batch from KPO Vostok was shipped quite recently, its weight is 4.56 tons. Sites for the collection of caps are organized in Moscow, in Yegorievsk, Lyubertsy, Voskresensk, Ramenki, Solnechnogorsk, Klin…

“We see that the project helps not only children, but also nature, because it is from collecting caps that many people learn about separate collection and start sorting waste at home,” said Anna Vinogradova, Vice President of the Volunteers to Help Orphans.

Collecting lids is probably the easiest way to sort waste. Yes, and interesting – if there is a child in the house, he will be happy to help load them into a jar, and then proudly take them to school and hand them to teachers. You can also arrange them by color – this is not necessary for the processor, but the child is interested.

As a result, more than 55 million of these caps did not end up in landfills!
