YouTube video service tests a new feature that allows users to search for a song on the platform by simply humming it. The feature is currently available to a limited number of Android app users.
YouTube will be able to identify a song by its hum, “moo” or playback from other devices in the spirit of the functionality of the Shazam application. YouTube will allow the melody to be sung for three seconds or more, after which it will give the user the appropriate videos with official clips, user-generated content or short videos Shorts.
In October 2020, Google (which owns YouTube) also launched the ability to identify songs by whistling and melody, but then users had to perform it for 10-15 seconds. YouTube technology will use the same system as the Google search engine.
