On August 16, the Government of Finland will discuss at an informal meeting restrictions on travel of Russian citizens to the country. At the moment, there is no definite position on the issue of limiting the rest of Russians.
According to the public broadcaster YLE, the Finnish Foreign Ministry has explored various options. One of them is to make it more difficult in practice to obtain a tourist visa.
Meanwhile, the President of Latvia Egil Levits considers it necessary to revise the residence permits and visas already issued to Russians. As Levits pointed out, “for those who support the SVO in Ukraine, the residence permit should be canceled or at least should not be extended.”
In addition, Latvia supports the demands of Finland, Estonia and the Czech Republic to stop issuing tourist visas to Russians. The decision should be taken “at the European level,” Levits said.
