Yashin was transferred to a pre-trial detention center in Izhevsk

Opposition politician Ilya Yashin (included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agents), sentenced to 8.5 years in prison in the case of fakes about the army, was transferred from the Moscow SIZO-4 “Medved” to SIZO-1 in Izhevsk. This was told by his lawyer Maria Eismont.

“In the detention center, we were told that he was transferred to SIZO-1 of Udmurtia in Izhevsk. In my practice, there was a case when the client was also transferred to a pre-trial detention center in Udmurtia, and after the entry into force of the sentence, they were sent to a colony in another region. We consider this practice appalling,” Ms. Eismont told RIA Novosti.

She noted that the authorities could not send Mr. Yashin to the place of serving his sentence before the sentence entered into force. However, there are no legislative restrictions on the transfer of the defendant between pre-trial detention centers.

On her Facebook page (owned by the extremist and banned Meta, recognized in Russia), Ms. Eismont clarified that the Medved administration initially told the oppositionist’s lawyers that he was still in the Moscow detention center, which forced them to wait three hours for Ilya Yashin in investigation office. Maria Eismont also said that due to the transfer of the politician, he would not be able to see his mother, who made an appointment with her son on December 29.

December 9 Ilya Yashin was sentenced Meshchansky Court of Moscow to 8 years and 6 months in a penal colony. Earlier, he was found guilty of spreading fakes about the Russian army, in particular, about the involvement of the military of the Russian Armed Forces in the events in the Ukrainian Bucha.
