Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv” played a victorious match with Nizhnekamsk “Neftekhimik”. The meeting took place on Tuesday at Arena 2000.
The first period of the meeting did not change the scores. The teams went into the break with the numbers 0-0 on the scoreboard. In the second period, first Artur Kayumov, with a feed from Berezkin, fired an accurate shot at the goal. And then Yaroslav Likhachev effectively “corrected” Kraskovsky’s strike. The guests were also able to break the score by scoring one goal.
The third period became decisive. Yaroslav Likhachev scored a double. The visitors tried to equalize the score by scoring another goal. At the end of the period, with the score 3-2, the Neftekhimik coach went all-in and removed the goalkeeper for a sixth field player. But Artur Kayumov ruined these plans by scoring a goal into an empty net. The result of the meeting was 4-2 in favor of Lokomotiv.
Thanks to the victory, as well as the fact that Vityaz lost to Spartak on the same day, Lokomotiv gets a ticket to the playoffs. The number of points accumulated will allow the team to remain in the top 8 of the conference even if the team loses all remaining matches of the regular season. But for now Lokomotiv is the leader in the West conference.
