Yaroslavl hosted competitions of the business league “Match TV” in rugby tag

Yaroslavl for the first time became a platform for tag-rugby competitions. In the capital of the Golden Ring, at the Shinnik stadium, the second round of the Match TV business league in tag rugby was held. 24 teams took part in it. Governor of the Yaroslavl region Mikhail Evraev was watching sports battles with the president of the CSKA rugby club Alexei Mitryushin, the director general and chairman of the board of the Russian rugby federation Pavel Fedorov and the president of the rugby federation of the Yaroslavl region Valery Morozov.

– This year the Yaroslavl Region signed a cooperation agreement with the Rugby Federation of Russia and we plan to actively develop this sport in the region. A plan of joint events has already been approved. Rugby has many advantages. Like the football it grew out of, rugby doesn’t cost much. People of any build, both boys and girls, can do it, there is a lot of movement in it and it is good for the development of physical data and just for health. Therefore, we will actively introduce it in sports schools and simply in schools in the region, – said Mikhail Evraev.

In the Yaroslavl region, they plan to develop this sport. Now in the region, under the control of the regional government, there are 4 rugby sections. They train 160 young athletes.

But in the region they plan to open new sections for this sport. School Rugby League will start working in the schools of the region. Within its framework, schoolchildren will have the opportunity to play rugby in physical education classes. Trained teachers will train them.

In May of this year, Tutaev hosted the finals of regional school league competitions. It was attended by 150 young athletes from 8 schools in five districts of the region. Such competitions are held for the second year already, last year seven teams took part in the competitions, and this year twice as many – 15. During the year, young Yaroslavl rugby players actively trained and took part in regional and all-Russian competitions. Some of the teams showed themselves well and received various memorable gifts and diplomas from the organizers of the tournaments. This is the result of systematic joint work of the government of the Yaroslavl region and the regional rugby federation.

– The winners have already performed worthily for beginners in the finals of the All-Russian School League. In the future, we plan to launch a student rugby league, – said Governor Mikhail Evraev.

This year, the work will be expanded, within the framework of the cooperation agreement concluded between the regional government and the regional rugby federation, a series of rugby competitions and training camps will be held. The sports calendar of the region will be replenished with new competitions. In August, a beach rugby tournament will be held in Yaroslavl, and in September, the regional rugby championship will be held. The sports season will end with the Golden Ring of Russia festival. The rugby team of the region will take part in competitions in other regions of Russia.

As they say in the message of the government of the region, the program of sports competitions included a master class for the children’s team “CSKA – Yaroslavl”. It was held by well-known Russian rugby players: multiple champion of Russia, master of sports of international class Andrey Garbuzov, master of sports of international class, multiple champion of Russia and Europe Petr Botnarash and master of sports of international class, TV presenter of the show “Superninja” and “Everything to Rugby” Vasily Artemiev.
