The administrative apparatus of the Yaroslavl region will be reduced by a third, said Governor Mikhail Evraev. All procedures to reduce the administrative staff must be carried out before the end of this year. In Yaroslavl and Gavrilov-Yamsky district, this process will begin after the elections of the heads of cities.

“The analysis showed that the administrative apparatus of the government of the region and municipalities is more than necessary to solve the tasks assigned to the region and districts. We must create a compact, professional administrative apparatus of enterprising, caring people,” said Mr. Evraev (quoted from site regional governments).

He explained that the total staffing of officials would have to decrease by a third, but each unit would have its own percentage – “somewhere more, somewhere less.” “Work to optimize the size of the state apparatus of the region is being carried out, among other things, to create decent working conditions. All the money will remain in the wage fund,” the governor added.

Mikhail Evraev also clarified that after the “optimization” the salaries of the remaining officials will increase by 50-60% – both in the government of the Yaroslavl region and in municipalities. “We are faced with the fact that many people are forced to leave the state and municipal service, because the level of payment does not allow them to work normally. This creates a big systemic problem,” the governor said.

Employees who have fallen under the reduction will be paid all the compensation provided for by law, he assured. Additional costs due to the reduction at the municipal level will be reimbursed from the regional budget through subsidies.

According to Mr. Evraev, this will be the first step towards optimizing the size of the administrative staff. “In the future, additional work will be carried out to reduce the number in certain structures of the regional government and administrations of municipalities,” the governor’s press service explained.

Recall that Mikhail Evraev won the election of the governor of the Yaroslavl region on September 11. He ran as a self-nominated candidate and won 82.31% of the vote.
