The head of the Bulgarian state, Rumen Radev, did not sign the text of the declaration of nine countries of Eastern Europe, since it contains a clause on the admission of Ukraine to NATO. This was reported in the press service of the President of Bulgaria.

Earlier it became known that the declaration was supported by Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, North Macedonia and Montenegro. All of them spoke in favor of Ukraine joining NATO.

However, Bulgarian President Radev believes that the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO should be considered after Russia and Ukraine develop a plan for the peaceful settlement of the conflict and follow it. Previously, Bulgaria signed a declaration on the possible accession of Ukraine to NATO back in 2008, but then, according to the press service of the President of the country, there was a completely different situation in political and military terms.
