“Yandex” asked to extend the terms of the transfer of the domain to the territory of Kazakhstan

“Yandex” asked the authorities of Kazakhstan to extend the terms for transferring the yandex.kz domain to the territory of the republic. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the country.

“As a result of the activities carried out by the company Yandex a letter was received about the extension of the transfer of their domain to the territory of the country. Yandex also expressed its readiness to comply with all requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” – leads message portal NUR.KZ.

The ministry emphasized that they do not seek to completely block the operation of infringing domains, using only a tool for temporarily restricting access. Such a tool was used by the department on August 9, since Yandex did not provide a response to its request of July 25. The operation of the yandex.kz domain was temporarily suspended in connection with the legislation of Kazakhstan, which provides for such sanctions for placing an Internet resource on hardware and software systems outside the territory of the republic.

Yandex then noted that they were working on restoring access and negotiating with the regulator. The company also assured that they always adhere to the requirements of local legislation in all countries of their presence. Later that day, access to the company’s services in Kazakhstan was restored.
