The US Department of Commerce is considering possible “enforcement measures” against Kaspersky Lab, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
Specific possible measures are not called, it is only noted that they can be applied within the framework of existing online security rules. Citing sources, the WSJ notes that based on the measures taken against Kaspersky Lab, other steps can be developed, for example, against the Chinese social network TikTok, as well as other resources under Chinese control.
The US Department of Commerce said the agency intends to make full use of its powers “to protect Americans’ confidential data” and work with Congress “to adapt to changing risks.”
Earlier, the WSJ reported that in the US and Europe there are concerns about the possible intensification of cyber attacks in the event of sanctions against Kaspersky Lab.
