WSJ: AI is increasingly being used in the creation of video games

Video game developers are increasingly using AI-based approaches to create video games. This is reported The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) with reference to industry representatives.
According to WSJ sources, the use of neural networks significantly speeds up game development – with the help of artificial intelligence, Electronic Arts was able to reduce the time it takes to create a digital level prototype from a week to several hours. Roblox uses generative AI to create new kinds of materials and animations. NetEase is testing a tool for writing a variety of NPC dialogue.
Ubisoft works in the same vein – it is already submitted Generative AI Ghostwriter helps write NPC lines. Also, AI can be useful to automatically change the game environment when a new season arrives – this is what Playtika did for the design of the Bingo Blitz game for St. Patrick’s Day.
Scenario has built its own AI model based on generative Stable Diffusion and Midjourney. ChatGPT was used by Electric Noir Studios to develop the mobile game Dead Man`s Phone. And in the project You be the Judge! photorealistic images were created by Midjourney. The developers are concerned about the unpredictability of AI and its ability to lie and give wrong answers. Also of concern are possible copyright issues, as AIs learn from existing materials. At Demiurge Studios, ideas are visualized using AI, but the verification is always done by a human.
