On Friday, January 12, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation added to the register of individuals and legal entities recognized as foreign agents.
Writer Boris Akunin* (real name Grigory Chkhartishvili)* was recognized as a foreign agent because he opposed the special military operation in Ukraine and disseminated false information aimed at creating a negative image of the Russian Federation, as well as the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Journalist Alexander Minkin, administrator of the Moscow Calling Telegram channel Andrey Kurshin, and the online publication “Kholod” were also recognized as foreign agents.
