A universal maritime drone created in the USA, capable of autonomous navigation for a long time and independently selecting a target for attack, poses a serious threat. He told about this to an electronic publication “Army Standard” former US Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik.

The unmanned vehicle was developed by the American company Ocean Aero. Prototypes were transferred to the US Navy for testing. The device was called “Trident”, or “Trident”. Wren argues that such drones have the potential to radically change the course of naval warfare and threaten the world’s maritime communications.

The device looks like a large torpedo, 3.5 meters long and 0.9 meters high. It is capable of moving above water and underwater. On the surface of the water, the drone raises a sail covered with 750-watt solar panels and charges its batteries.

He needs a minute to lower the sail and go under water. When on the surface, the Trident can move at a speed of 5 knots. Swimming autonomy is up to three months. The drone is equipped with surveillance cameras and can carry weapons: torpedoes, missiles, mines.

The main advantage of the drone is the ability to continuously and secretly move towards the target and wait as long as desired. It moves almost silently and unnoticed, allowing it to attack a target in such a way that it will be impossible to find out which side made the attack.

The device operates completely autonomously, using an advanced system with elements of artificial intelligence. Ryo can independently decide when to move away from danger, when to attack, and what to consider as the main targets.

The cost of the device is $3 million, approximately the same as the Tomahawk missile.

The US Navy is testing the system in the Red Sea. The manufacturer plans to produce 600 marine drones per year. The UK, Israel, Australia and New Zealand have expressed interest in the purchase.

It cannot be ruled out, Krapivnik believes, that the Americans will use this unmanned system to sink competitors’ ships. For example, a drone “lurks” on the main sea trade routes and fires a torpedo or missile at the desired target. At the same time, try to prove who did it.

In his opinion, the danger is that Trident can secretly enter any port and open fire, it can even carry a tactical nuclear charge and detonate it as part of a pre-emptive strike or as a “false flag” operation to accuse unwanted countries of political or military purposes.
