The authorities of the countries bordering Russia and Belarus believe that in the long term the alliance should become more aggressive. In addition, the leaders of the Eastern European states call for strengthening the work of defense production lines.
“There are very big risks that our own national security will use some of our reserves. …And I know there are other allies who do the same. So the only solution is to quickly ramp up production capacity and ensure that policies and political funding support this,” said Kusti Salm, Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.
A spokesman for the US Department of Defense told the newspaper that the US is considering building test sites and other military infrastructure in the Baltic countries. According to him, Washington’s security assistance to the region has increased this year to $180 million.
