World champions and Olympic medalists in swimming will come to Sakhalin

The first stage of the Russian Swimming Cup on Sakhalin will be attended by 19 famous athletes, record holders, Olympic medalists, multiple champions of Russia, the world and Europe. This was reported in the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports.

“For me, the event is interesting both as an athlete and as an ordinary resident of Russia! To climb almost to the easternmost part of the country is to put an important tick in the list of my travels. Of course, the trip to the east is not the first in his career: there was Vladivostok, and China, and Japan, and Singapore. Now, in the status of an athlete, I will focus on the performance, but at the end of my career, I have a dream to go to the east of Russia, explore this part of the country: breathe fresh air, see a whale, climb a volcano, – said 5-time world champion and 5-time world championship medalist, 2-time European champion and 3-time European championship medalist Kirill Prigoda. — These competitions will definitely have a positive impact on the development of the region in terms of sports. Maybe not right away, but if the trend continues and these starts are fixed in the WFTU calendar, then the influx of new promising swimmers will be guaranteed.”

For all athletes, a trip to the island region will be the first in their lives. Everyone wants to get new impressions from Sakhalin and from competitions in a new place, recharge their batteries, communicate with young swimmers and contribute to the development of swimming.

The stage of the Russian Cup in swimming will be held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on May 1 and 2 in the 50-meter swimming pool of the water sports sports school. Free admission.
