In the capital of Tatarstan, the World Aquatics Championships may be held in 2029. Negotiations about this are underway with the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics), Tatarstan Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov said.
There is a dialogue with the international federation: the World Championship in Kazan has not been canceled, it has been postponed to 2029. Other agreements are in force.
Information about the postponement of the competition to 2029 was confirmed by Vladimir Salnikov, President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation. The Russian side is not yet planning to ask for compensation after depriving Kazan of the right to host the 2025 World Cup.
