Women managers in Russia are concentrated in microbusiness – Kommersant

Only one in five top managers in Russia is a woman, and they mostly work in microbusiness. Marina Karban, Vice-Rector for Educational Programs at Skolkovo, spoke about this at a summer meeting of the Kommersant closed club. “Women in Business”.
“Until now, 36% of CEOs in the world, that is, managers of the highest order, are women. It seems that this is a huge percentage, but actually it is not: the remaining 64% are not women. In Russia, this percentage is less: it is about 20%. And all of them are mainly in microbusiness,” said Ms. Karban.
According to her, gender parity reigns at the Skolkovo business school: men and women are “50 to 50”. At the same time, the most “female” program is the “Startup Academy”. “This is exactly where microbusiness is going,” Marina Karban explained. The most “male” program, in turn, is the Executive MBA: “Where the business is bigger.”
The larger the business, the fewer top-level women managers in it. “Among large corporations, they are only 6.8%,” summed up Ms. Karban.
