France showed design of medals for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024. The symbol was the Eiffel Tower, and the three sources of inspiration were the hexagon, radiance and the arrangement of precious stones.

The core of the medals will contain a hexagonal piece of original iron set with precious stones from the main symbol of France and its capital – the Eiffel Tower. The design was created by the jewelry house Chaumet, part of the holding company of the Games’ premium partner LVMH.

Over the years, the Eiffel Tower has undergone several renovations, during which some of its metal elements were replaced and preserved by the Eiffel Tower Operating Company. The iron was restored to its original color and secured at each edge with six metal rivets reminiscent of the rivets on the Eiffel Tower.

The Eiffel Tower also inspired the design of the ribbons: the pattern on them follows the wrought iron grille of the tower, and the dark red color of the Paralympic medal ribbons is a mixture of the first two layers of paint used on the tower. Olympic medal ribbons will be dark blue.
