The calendar winter in Moscow will begin with increased frost and abnormally high atmospheric pressure. Evgeny Tishkovets, the leading specialist of the Phobos weather center, told about this.
The final chord of autumn, according to him, is expected to be cold in January. And this despite the sunny weather. At night, the columns of minimum thermometers in the capital will drop to minus 9 – minus 14, in the daytime it will not be higher than minus 4 – minus 9.
“The calendar winter starts with increased frost and abnormally high atmospheric pressure,” Tishkovets said. So, barometers will show 765 millimeters of mercury – this is almost 20 units above the norm.
On Thursday and Friday nights, the air will freeze to minus 10 – minus 15, in the daytime minus 5 – minus 10. The predicted figures are 5 degrees colder than long-term observations in the first decade of December. Rather, they correspond to the average climatic norm of mid-winter.
“The cold will ease a little by the weekend,” the meteorologist added. “But the temperature background will remain winter.”
