The President of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and head coach of the national team, Irina Viner, considered the International Olympic Committee’s requirements for the admission of athletes from Russia humiliating.

“Until recently, we in Europe could only claim one place at the Olympics. But why is it needed? It would be a shame if we went there…” said Wiener.

In her opinion, this situation will be humiliating for Russia. At the same time, the coach emphasized, representatives of rhythmic gymnastics will not go there without the symbols of the country.

Last year, after the start of a special operation in Ukraine, the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, made a recommendation to international federations not to allow Russian athletes to participate in international competitions.

On January 25, 2023, the IOC announced that it could allow Russian athletes who did not express support for hostilities to participate in international competitions under a neutral flag.
