Ecuador’s share of the world banana market
Ecuador accounted for 26.9% of global banana exports in 2021, according to The Observatory of Economic Complexity. The Philippines took second place – 10.9%, Costa Rica closes the top three – 9%. At the same time, according to World Population Review estimates, Ecuador took only 5th place in the list of largest banana producers (6.5 million tons per year). India became the leader – 30.4 million tons. This is followed by China with 11.9 million tons, Indonesia (7.2 million tons) and Brazil (6.8 million tons).
