WHO: The number of older people in the world has grown at an unprecedented rate

The representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, Melita Vujnovich, called an unprecedented increase in the number of elderly people during the VII All-Russian Congress on Gerontology and Geriatrics with international participation that opened in Moscow.
According to Vujnovic, today there are about 1 billion people in the world who have reached the age of 60.
By 2030 there will be 1.4 billion of them, and by 2050 – 2.1 billion. “The WHO European Region, which includes 53 countries, including Russia, has the highest median life expectancy in the world, some have more, some don’t.”
Recall that the Russian authorities have set a goal to achieve an average life expectancy of 78 years by 2030. According to the chief geriatrician of Russia, Olga Tkacheva, by the end of 2022, life expectancy in the country will be 72.76 years.
