WHO announces cholera outbreak in Syria

In 10 provinces of Syria, an outbreak of cholera was recorded and its spread throughout the country. The situation began to cause concern. The country has already confirmed 426 cases of infection, 33 people became victims. This was announced by the head of the group on cholera and epidemic diarrheal diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO), Philippe Barbosa.
“As of September 28, the Syrian Ministry of Health has reported a cholera outbreak in 10 provinces, resulting in a total of 33 deaths and 426 confirmed cases,” he said during a briefing at the UN in Geneva.
In addition, he stressed that the situation in the affected governorates is developing at an alarming pace and is spreading to new ones.
