WhatsApp will update the display of “Statuses” – Kommersant

The WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) is going to add new functions related to “Statuses” to the application: they will become more convenient for users to view. Innovation noticed in the latest beta version of the Android app. The new feature is currently being tested; it is unknown when it will become available to all users.

“Statuses” in WhatsApp are analogous to Stories in other applications; you can publish vertical videos and photos in them. If previously, to view the status, you had to go to the user’s profile, now all contact statuses are collected in one “Updates” tab, pinned on top of chats. This allows you to immediately see other people’s updates when you log into the application. WhatsApp has added updated “Statuses” at the request of users.

Previously Meta announcedthat WhatsApp will be able to accept messages from other instant messengers in Europe only by agreement of the parties. The company is also testing a new feature that will help users of Apple devices can log into profiles without a password.
