WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and is banned) testing a new feature that will allow iOS smartphone users to send photos and videos without compression. Previously, this function became available Android device owners.

Users will be able to send uncompressed files to the document selection menu – a “select from gallery” icon will appear there, under which there will be an inscription about the original quality of photos and videos. Previously, users had to find workarounds to send uncompressed images and change their extensions to PDF or DOC.

Previously WhatsApp allowed users can send photos in HD quality. Previously, the standard resolution for photos in the messenger was 1600 x 1052, but now users can send photos in resolutions up to 4096 x 2692. Recipients can choose whether to upload a photo in high or lower quality.
