WhatsApp, owned by the extremist company Meta, which is recognized in Russia, announced that the application will soon have channels in which subscribers will be able to watch and follow content. This is stated in a statement published on Thursday in the blog of the messenger.
The publication says Messenger channels will be a “simple, secure and private” way to keep track of important news and organizations “without leaving WhatsApp.” It is noted that the channels to which users subscribe will be located separately from the sections with chats and communities on the new tab “Actual”, where the status will also be moved.
The messenger explained that administrators who curate channels will be able to post various messages, photos and videos, as well as stickers and polls, which will be available to subscribers in view mode. It is assumed that in the future channeling will be monetized, which will be possible thanks to WhatsApp payment services.
