Kommersant FM columnist Alexander Levi talks about the flagship from the Chinese manufacturer.

One of the largest Russian retailers has opened pre-orders for Honor’s flagship, the Magic6 Pro model. In its homeland, the Chinese device was presented at the beginning of the year; the global version debuted at the Mobile World Congress in February. So I was able to get acquainted with the new product in advance.

Even if you don’t know the cost, which I will return to later, the materials, dimensions, display and, in general, the first tactile contact make it clear that you have a flagship in your hands. Especially the green version with eco-leather back. The material, pleasant to the touch, turned out to be quite practical.

The metal frame surrounding the impressive main block of the Honor Falcon’s triple camera adds solidity to the device, while simultaneously influencing the balance. You need to get used to the new grip, slightly higher than usual. The work of the mentioned photosensors, as well as the implemented artificial intelligence tools, deserves a separate story.

Now I want to highlight the Magic6 Pro screen and its battery. The developers protected the first one with NanoCrystal Shield technology. After two weeks of actively carrying the smartphone in a bag along with a pocket key holder and a headphone case, a heartbreaking fall, albeit on the carpet, as well as dozens of installations in the snow, not like the LTPO display, the factory film is still in perfect condition. The five-star certificate of Swiss experts SGS and the IP68 standard are no coincidence.

The package includes an expected screen frequency of 120 Hz, an impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits and an interesting feature called “Custom Circadian Night Screen”, which, using AI, adjusts the color rendition not only by the hour, with the sunset, but also taking into account the owner’s habits. Of course, a flagship cannot do without a modern version of the processor. On board the Magic6 Pro is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform. The Qualcomm AI Engine promises a performance increase of up to 98%, confirmation of which can be quickly found in synthetic tests.

However, what struck me most was the autonomy of the smartphone. The second generation silicon-carbon battery increased the energy reserve to 5600 mAh without noticeable sacrifices in the size or weight of the device. Up to two days of work as usual seems to be the focus at first. And taking into account the support for fast charging 80 W (or 66 W in the case of the outbred version), as well as battery endurance at temperatures down to -20 degrees, this looks like a noticeable advantage.

In domestic retail, different things are happening with Magic6 Pro. The pre-order that has opened is 129.99 thousand rubles, which is approximately the same as the European price tag of €1,299 thousand. But at the same time, following a popular technique, in the first days the reseller makes a discount of 20 thousand rubles. and the Honor Pad 9 tablet adds to the load.
