On March 9, it became known that Maria Sigova was appointed rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka). Sigova Maria Viktorovna was born on June 21, 1981 in Leningrad. In 2003, she graduated with honors from the St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance with a degree in national economics (now St. Petersburg State University of Economics).

Since 2002, she has managed projects at Basic Element and Balt-Shelf (equipment supplier for AK ALROSA). In 2005, he was a leading economist in the analytical department of the sales company Lenenergo. From 2006 to 2010, she held the positions of financial director in companies engaged in foreign economic activity.

In 2006–2012, he was an associate professor at the Department of Economics and Management in Tourism and Hospitality at St. Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics. At the same time, she served as Assistant Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

In 2013, she was appointed Vice-Rector for Research at the Anatoly Sobchak International Banking Institute. Since 2014, she has been elected rector of this university. In parallel, from 2017 to 2019, she headed the Institute of Financial Cybertechnologies at ITMO (“ITMO.Fintech”), and since 2021, she has been the head of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology School of High-Tech Business (project partner is Sberbank).

In 2019, she was elected to the municipal council “Palace District” in St. Petersburg from the United Russia party.
