What are our pores – Style – Kommersant

Gone are the days when foundation completely concealed all skin imperfections. The new season heralds the arrival of another wave of translucent products. “Kommersant Style” understands the reasons and finds out for whom this is all invented.
The world of beauty is rapidly moving towards lightness: textures lose their density, and the products themselves perform several functions at the same time. Foundation creams are becoming less heavy, and their use in the classical sense is gradually fading away. So, Donnie Davy, the main make-up artist of the series “Euphoria”, on the set began to refuse tonal creams and powders altogether, and uses a minimum of a diluted base for spot application and insists that the pores, texture and unevenness of the skin be visible in the photo.
The rejection of the foundation is also due to new information about skin care. While many women go makeup-free or cover up imperfections with concealer, others have found an alternative to regular foundation that acts as a kind of beauty wardrobe. Such versatile products contain many useful ingredients – vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide – and can compete with traditional serums, and their ability to work with skin tone is also quite good.
“The peculiarity of tints is that they are comfortable due to their fine texture. As a rule, this is a mix of pigment and caring components,” says the founder of the Mosmake agency, celebrity makeup artist Natalya Vlasova. “The combination of tints and concealer is ideal: the first evens out skin tone, and the second will hide what is needed.”
The experience of Chanel and the products of the Les Beige line, variations of which are released and successfully sold every summer for several years in a row, make these “water” foundation fluids indispensable. The latest innovations also speak about the popularity of such products: Hailey Bieber recently released a light Peptide Glazing Fluid gel from her Rhode Skin cosmetics line – in addition to moisturizing, it surprisingly makes the skin smoother and fresher, and therefore scattered in a matter of days.
Avoiding heavy foundations is also associated with inclusion and acceptance. Some makeup artists feel that no foundation or light coverage is the best option for older skin. For example, Bobbi Brown, who recently turned 65, has stopped using foundation herself, and uses it less and less for makeup of her clients. “I realized that I really like how I look without a dense tone,” she said in an interview. Foundations with such a coating, as a rule, settle on fine wrinkles and look hard on the skin, so the choice is up to naturalness.
