The West is “instructing” the UN Secretariat on the issue of Iranian drones in Ukraine, according to a letter from Russia’s permanent mission to the UN, distributed on Friday to members of the organization’s Security Council.
The report says that Western countries are trying to instruct the UN Secretariat on the procedure for investigating the issue of Russia’s alleged use of drones from Iran during a special operation in Ukraine.
“Russia is seriously concerned about attempts by Western countries to give instructions to the UN Secretariat,” the letter says.
The letter also states that these steps violate Article 100 of the UN Charter, and such measures were taken by representatives of France, Germany and the UK. In addition, a number of members of the UN Secretariat are said to have indicated their intention to accept these instructions.
The letter also states that the UN Secretariat is authorized to conduct such investigations, but only with the permission of the UN Security Council, which did not give it.
“No decision was approved at the request of Ukraine, indicated in its letter circulated to the Security Council,” the report said.
