The US authorities will try to fix the price ceiling for Russian oil at $60 per barrel. At the same time, they will try to keep Russian fuel on the world market. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to its sources.
Earlier, the US Treasury Department called another price corridor – from 40 to 60 dollars. According to Bloomberg, the United States government decided to revise it after Vladimir Putin’s statement about refusing to sell energy resources to countries that support the establishment of a price ceiling for them.
Overseas, it was considered that raising the ceiling would help keep Russian oil on the world market. This, in turn, will help the White House to contain the rise in gasoline prices in the US and look better in the eyes of voters before the upcoming elections and Congress.
Earlier, experts interviewed by Reuters declared the uselessness of EU price restrictions on Russian oil. In their opinion, Moscow can easily bypass them using maritime transport. Moreover, in addition to Russian tankers, tankers from Asian countries, in particular, India and China, can also be attracted.
