West failed to inflict strategic defeat on Russia – diplomat

The West was unable to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, said Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, speaking at the Russian Embassy on the occasion of the Diplomatic Worker’s Day.
Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February 10.
According to Antonov, “the whole Western world took up arms against Russia.” At the same time, he noted that the failure of plans to inflict a strategic defeat on the Russian Federation is obvious.
Antonov said that recently the Russian economy has rebuilt and strengthened militarily, and also began to interact more actively with a large number of countries.
“Yes, it is difficult for us. Yes, we live in conditions of economic sanctions. They even want to cut the name of our Motherland from the political map of the world,” he said, noting that Russian diplomats constantly feel the negative impact from the outside, including in matters of relations with the states of the CIS, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Antonov said that Russia continues to be focused on the formation of a democratic world order based on equality and respect for international law. According to him, this should provide the necessary conditions for the fair development of all countries.
