“Well, let’s run ?!”: a thousand Khabarovsk residents took part in the race “Achieving the goal”

On the first weekend of August, Khabarovsk hosted the traditional charity run “Achieving the Goal”. This time the sporting event was especially bright because of the many interesting locations, performances by artists and colorful t-shirts. And everyone brought home a medal with company symbols.

For healthy lifestyle and good deeds

The participants of the family sports festival on Saturday, August 5, were railway workers, their families and just joggers. Anyone could go to the start at the Lokomotiv stadium. Most of the participants admitted that they do not go in for sports professionally, but decided to go the distance in order to do a good deed and set an example for others. For registration for the race, everyone paid a fee from 500 to 900 rubles to help children in difficult life situations.

– We often participate in this race with the whole family from the very beginning. Our two sons are with us. We always start not only for the sake of sports interest, but also with the goal of a small benefit for sick children. We didn’t train much before the race,” says Irina, one of the participants in the sporting event.

– And the three of us came, our dad is generally a super-marathon runner, he just doesn’t run somewhere, he even goes specially to other cities, – Svetlana Evdokimova shares. – We ourselves have nothing to do with the railway. Here, they also came to help, though so, but already for us joy.

And there were more than a thousand of such amateur athletes. Participants began to gather at the main sports ground at 8 o’clock to get their starter pack with a number as soon as possible. Some even considered their number lucky. No, it was not a seven or five, it would seem that the completely inconspicuous number 300 turned out to be significant for one of the girls.

Oksana and Angela are employees of the Far Eastern Railway, the girls did not come to the race for the sake of sports interest.

– This year we have a blue jersey, some of them have red jerseys, but they always had white jerseys, that’s the difference of this race. My number 300 is lucky. Why happy? Well, that’s how I decided, – the girl laughs. – In general, the event is just great – there are charged people around, organization, movement, and when you understand that this is for the benefit of the children, you didn’t just run, you feel that you didn’t waste your time. We had a good workout. We ran 1520 meters and we have a good result.

Scandinavian sticks are not a hindrance

For the seventh year now, Russian Railways has been celebrating the Day of the Railwayman in the format of a family holiday by holding a charity run. And every year more and more people from young to old join it. Retirees do not lag behind, most often they choose the smallest distance of 500 meters.

This time, those over 60 came to the start, taking Scandinavian sticks. The result is not important to them, but they made a contribution and are happy about it. Children and those who were not sure that they would overcome a longer race ran at the same distance.

Every now and then at the finish line one could hear: “Mom, am I the fastest? I am the first”. The families of hereditary railroad workers also fled. Among the participants there were also guests who learned about the race and came to Khabarovsk on purpose.

Traditionally, three distances were available for participants – 500 meters for children from 6 to 14 years old, 1520 meters and five kilometers for adults and teenagers. The first children’s race started at 9:30, the second individual at 10:30, the third at 11:30. Before each race there is an active warm-up, which was carried out by experienced instructors.

Great job for the kids

Runners welcomed Gennady Nesteruk, First Deputy Head of the Far Eastern Railway.

– I congratulate you on the Day of the railway worker, – Nesteruk addressed the audience. – I wish you success, victories, participation. What we are doing together is a wonderful thing for the benefit of children. Thank you for that!

Guests of the holiday participated in master classes and other activities. All participants were awarded a commemorative medal with symbols. And the best of the best were also awarded diplomas and valuable gifts.

So another bright holiday of railway workers has passed and another good deed is in the piggy bank of Khabarovsk. The event went well. Athletes stayed on the site for a long time, arranging photo shoots and picnics next to the treadmill.
