Honorary President of the Russian Football Union Vyacheslav Koloskov told the publication “RB Sport“that the contract with Valery Karpin needs to be extended.

“If I were the RFU, I would try to convince Karpin to extend his contract with the national team. His work is visible, the national team plays modern football,” Koloskov said.

Valery Karpin began his coaching career in 2009 at Spartak Moscow. In July 2021, he was appointed head coach of the Russian national team.

The fact that the RFU intends to begin negotiations with Karpin on extending the contract was previously stated by the organization’s Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov.

Koloskov became the first president of the Russian Football Union. He left this position in 2005. Koloskov was later appointed honorary president of the Russian Football Union.
