‘We have no water’: Gaza faces deep humanitarian crisis

A humanitarian crisis is rapidly unfolding in the Gaza Strip as trapped residents, many without food and electricity, face a fourth day of Israeli airstrikes in response to Hamas’s deadly attack on Israel in which it has killed at least 1,200 people. CNN writes about this.
Nadine Abdul Latif, 13, from the al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, said neighbors and relatives told her and her family to leave on Monday after Israel said it would strike the area. But they decided to stay because “we don’t have a safe place to go,” she said.
Her father Nihad went missing on Saturday. He worked in Israel, but after the Sabbath, his family lost contact with him.
The Gaza Strip, a coastal enclave controlled by Hamas, has been hit by airstrikes since Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ordered a “total siege” of the area, including cutting off supplies of electricity, food, water and fuel to the enclave. “We are fighting barbarians and will respond accordingly,” Gallant said.
Israeli fighter jets struck more than 200 targets in the Gaza Strip overnight, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. The death toll now stands at more than 900, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Ministry of Interior said most of the targets were “towers, residential buildings, civil and service facilities, and many mosques.” Hamas denies using any of the attacked towers for its own purposes.
Tariq Al Hillu, a 29-year-old resident of al-Sudaniya in northern Gaza, described complete chaos when airstrikes hit his neighborhood on Sunday morning.
“My family members started screaming and running out of the house, each of us running in different directions,” he told CNN, adding that his entire neighborhood was destroyed “without any prior warning.”
He said his neighbors were trapped under rubble and he could hear their cries for help.
