“We don’t leave our own”: mini-football tournament among law enforcement agencies was held in St. Petersburg

The first city futsal tournament under the slogan “We don’t abandon our own” was held in the sports hall of St. The event was organized in honor of the National Unity Day and in support of the participants of the military special operation.
The participants of the competition were not professional athletes, but law enforcement officers. In total, eight teams from the structures of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region took part in the tournament: the Federal Security Service, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Government, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Council of Rectors of Universities, as well as the 6th Army of the Air Force and the Western Military District.
“With our tournament, our game, we want to support our guys, our soldiers who protect our security, our sovereignty, our people on the territory of Ukraine. We confirm, repeat and even continue the exploits of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers. With this tournament, we want to show that we are stronger than ever… We wish the participants of this tournament only one thing: victory.”– said Isai Kuzinets, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Veterans of St. Petersburg, at the opening ceremony.
Despite the fact that the tournament was held among amateurs, the match turned out to be exciting and spectacular. As a result of the competition, the team of the Government of St. Petersburg became the winner. The second place was taken by the Council of Rectors of the Universities of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, and the third place was taken by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city and region.
The event was organized with the support of the St. Petersburg public organization of veterans, disabled people, pensioners of war, labor, the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies. Part of the prizes in the form of T-shirts with the sign of victory are planned to be sent to the Donbass to express support for the participants in the military special operation.
