Khinshtein commented on the decree on granting Russian citizenship to foreigners who have entered into a contract for military service
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein commented decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to which foreign citizens serving in the Russian Armed Forces will be able to obtain Russian citizenship.
Foreigners who “concluded a contract during the period of a special military operation” will be able to submit a corresponding application. The decree grants the same right to foreign citizens who previously resigned from the Russian army. In addition to military personnel, members of their families also receive the right to obtain Russian citizenship.
“Now the problem with the extradition of Northern Military District veterans to other countries, where they will be punished for “mercenarism,” will be resolved,” Khinshtein wrote in his Telegram channel. “Russia does not extradite its citizens!” he emphasized.
In his comment, the parliamentarian recalled the case when he intervened after receiving an alarming message from the father of a 20-year-old Uzbek contract worker. The guy, as reported, came to Moscow on vacation after being wounded, but was detained by the police because… put on the wanted list by the Uzbek authorities for participation in the SVO. After the deputy addressed the Moscow prosecutor, the contract soldier was released from the temporary detention facility due to “failure to receive the necessary documents from the initiator of the search.” “There is a systemic problem… I believe that it is impossible to extradite people who defended the interests of our country with weapons in their hands if they will be punished for this!” – the head of the State Duma committee of the Russian Federation wrote then.
