“We are waiting for a surprise from Karpin”: football player Strepetov about the match between Russia and Iran

The Russian national football team is preparing to meet on the field with a team from Iran. The friendly match will be held in Tehran on March 23. Alexei Strepetov, a former midfielder and coach of Zenit St. Petersburg, shared his expectations from the game in an interview with MK in St. Petersburg.
According to him, the Iranian national team is one of the strongest football teams in the world. So the Russian fans will definitely enjoy the match: it promises to be intense.
“We expect a good surprise and victory from Karpin. We must show that we have a team, and it is of a high level. It is necessary to make it clear to the leaders of football in Europe and the world that the Russian team is in great order, ” Strepetov noted.
Recall that a year ago, the Russian team was suspended from international competitions by decision of FIFA and UEFA. In 2022, the team played only three friendly matches – with Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Already this weekend the fans are waiting for another friendly match between Russia and Iraq. Earlier, “MK in St. Petersburg” wrote that she will be held in St. Petersburg on March 26.
